Coral Springs Swim Club participated in the Jesse Vassallo Invitational, hosted by The Pompano Beach Pirhanas, May 19-21. CSSC gathered with swim teams from all over Florida at the Pompano Beach Acquatic Center to compete. The weather was sunny, warm, and ideal for competition.
CSSC has seen many of our swimmers drop time while showcasing improved technique throughout this season, and the trend continued with the Jesse Vassallo Invitational. Riley McCormick not only dropped nearly 2 seconds from her 100 Fly and finished the race in 2nd place at 1:19.43, but also dropped time in every event in which she competed. McCormich earned 15 points in total for CSSC at the meet.
The time drop trend was also showcased by Mariana Montes' 14 second drop in her 100 Fly (1:36.29) and Carolyn Powell's 1 second drop in her 50 Free (35.64). Both Montes and Powell placed 3rd in their respective events as did Rhania Suarez in her 50 Free at 42.42.
Hailey Wells placed 4th in her 100 Back (1:26.69) as did Emily Robertson in her 50 Back (37.68). Lilla Megyeri completed her 100 Breast with an impressive time of 1:48.74, and placed 5th. Also in 5th in her 200 Free was Payton Ward at 2:39.18. Elisabeth Olson dropped nearly 2 seconds from her 50 Fly (35.02) and secured a 6th place finish.
More impressive time drops over the weekend include Meaghan Swack's 14 second drop in her 200 Free (3:20.16), Sebastian Fahnestock's 16 second drop in his 100 Free (1:51.33), Skylar Croasdale's 10 second drop in her 50 Free (49. 11), Sophia El Chantiry's 6 second drop in both her 50 Free (44.36) and her 50 Breast (1:03.51), Andrea Peterson's nearly 5 second drop in her 50 Back (1:00.78), amd William Olson's 5 second drop in his 200 IM (3:01.09), his 200 Back (3:04.35), and his 200 Free (2:35.49).
This Meet was another success for the season and we are eagely anticipating events to come.
