The National Team

Our National TeamThis team is composed of talented swimmers who train for twenty hours or so a week during the school year and double that during vacations and summers in order to pursue excellence. In addition, the finest of this group also study film and read scientific papers in order to find the edge which will propel them onto the winners stand.

At this level of competition, the brain is the champion's ultimate edge.

Head Coach Bruno runs the National Team with the able assistance of Coach Dave.

We spend countless hours working on technique to ensure that all of our swimmers compete at the highest level. During specific training phases, the group is divided in small groups with speficic workouts designed to fulfill each athletes' needs.

The Senior Program

The Senior ProgramThe Senior Groups are for the "old timers." Swimmers must be at least 13 years old!

These groups include many talented swimmers who want swimming to be part of their life; but, perhaps, not as large a part as the National Team requires. Others love swimming and love the competition, but have not as yet had the breakthrough which would make them national competitors.

The teen-age years are filled with opportunities and choices. The Senior groups help to make sure that swimming is not an "all or nothing" choice for the teen-age CSSC swimmer.

Coach Raphael Lima, as well as Head Coach Bruno, oversee the Senior Group.

Senior II

  • Five days per week
  • Senior 2

    4:00pm to 6:30pm

Practices are designed to challenge the swimmers to make them better athletes. Swimmers age range between 13 and 18 with a few talented 12 year old. Practice yardage range between 4500-6000 yards.

International Swimming

The International ProgramOn a regular basis talented swimmers from other countries come to Coral Springs for instruction and become members of CSSC. CSSC Olympians have represented seven different countries, eight if one counts Coach Biggi!

International swimmers generally train with the National Team.

Between them CSSC coaches are fluent in seven different languages. They are adept at making international swimmers feel welcome. In addition, the CSSC staff can make arrangements for housing foreign swimmers who choose to swim with CSSC.

CSSC and the City of Coral Springs Aquatic Complex routinely host training camps for foreign and college teams as well. If you have questions or wish to inquire about arrangements for practicing in Coral Springs, please contact Bruno Darzi at This email address is being protected from spambots. Other Swimming Programs

Other ProgramsCSSC is not for everyone. It is the middle part of a swimming continuum. Children come to CSSC as swimmers. Swimmers leave CSSC as young adults usually. By no means do they have to leave swimming!

Given that swimming is truly the real "fountain of youth," CSSC encourages all of its "alumni" to keep swimming in their lives.

Two "Companion" programs complete the swimming continuum.

Age Group Programs

Our Age Group ProgramsThe CSSC Age Group program does not set out to teach youngsters how to swim. They are expected to swim well enough to be safe in the water before they join CSSC. CSSC coaches teach young swimmers to swim well in an expert, safe, caring and fun manner. If swimming is not fun, it is not anything a child will want to do.

Age Group is divided into "Colors." Placement is determined by the coaches. A child's physical age, emotional age, ability and desire are all taken into account when a child is placed initially and when he or she is moved into the next group.

CSSC coaches don't believe in "social promotion." Kids move up to a more demanding group when their ability and attitude warrant it, not because all their friends have moved on.

It takes special people to keep children happy in this kind of merit based system. Fortunately, CSSC has a group of very special people who happen to be fine coaches.
