Sunrise Invitational Results
The Sunrise Invitational, held September 22nd and 23rd, was the third Swim Meet in which Coral Springs Swim Club competed in in three weeks. Head Coach Bruno Darzi was proud of the tenacity that our swimmers have shown throughout the busy month of September. He related, “it was clear that some kids were tired and needed some rest. However, we were still able to see some great performances and, as a group, swam 18 new best times.”
Highlights from the Meet include Nicole Creed’s 2nd place finish in her 200 Back (2:16.21), Riley McCormick’s 2nd place finish in her 100 Fly (1:02.62), Rayanna Young’s 3rd place finish in her 100 Breast (1:11.39), Jason Bonasera’s 4th place finish in his 200 Back (2:07.79), and Juan Domecq’s 4th place finish in his 100 Breast (1:03.48).
Swimmers from White and Blue Groups, according to their Coach, “were excited to attend this meet and have proven to themselves just how important it is to practice with 100% effort every day.” Because of their dedication to learning new skills and improving, each swimmer from these groups achieved a new personal record in at least one race at the Sunrise Invitational.
New personal records for White and Blue in the 100 Free include Addison Palumbo (1:18.89), Beckham Korb (1:16.03), Carly Chin (1:19.27), Carolyn Powell (1:01.15), Hope Suther (1:15.99), Nicole Cavadid (1:09.00), Nikolas Campillo (1:26.74), and Ryan Miller (1:04.39) while Alejandra Gil-Restrepo (1.39.47), Anthony Palumbo (1.31.67), Evan NG (1.46.21), Jorge Aguila (1.38.11), and Roni Lubarsky (1.43.35) achieved new PR’s in their 100 Breast events.
Both Emma Lin ( 2.36.51), and Molly Chaison (3.03.42) set new PR’s in their 200 Free while Samantha Schoenborn (2.47.56), and Selah Rogers ( 2.50.37) did the same in their 200 Breast. Brittany Bean dropped over 3 seconds in her 200 IM (2.39.79), Kayleigh Didovic dropped nearly 7 seconds in her 100 IM (1.22.76), and
Radhika Nanavati dropped 2 seconds from her 50 Back: (38.41)
Nicole Palacios competed in the 200 back for the first time, and finished at 2.44.91 while Mariana Montes swam her 500 Free, also for the first time, and finished at 6.20.48. Reese Maxwell’s best event was her 50 Free (31.07) and Rhania Suarez’s was her 50 Fly (35.63).
Coach Alcantara also saw improvement in his swimmers from Aqua group. He witnessed “outstanding effort and great resilience for all of Aqua swimmers who endured 3 meets back to back and still managed to improve on all events, you rock!”
Ally Lake dropped an impressive 16 second from her 100 Breast and 6 seconds from her 100 IM for new best times of 1:42.50 and 1:32.28 respectively. Nakada Lewis dropped 3 seconds from her 50 Free and 2 seconds from her 100 IM for new personal bests of 38.95 and 1:45.21 respectively. Skyler Croasdale dropped 2 seconds from her 50 Free (32.63), as did Sebastian Fahnestock from his 100 IM (1:37.56) and Sariah Jeffery from her 100 Breast (1:47.00).
Sophia El Chantiry endured her 200 IM for a new best time of 3:20.33 while Logan Jeffery improved his 100 IM by 5 seconds for a new best time of 1:43.83 and Andrea Peterson dropped 4 seconds from her 100 IM for a new best time of 1:44.58. Jaheim Scott’s best event was his 50 Free (44.28) as was Riley Walsh’s (37.64).
Coach Bogoslavsky reported it “ a great meet for Mullins swimmers with a lot of best times!. We are very proud of the hard work our swimmers have been putting in practice and look forward to seeing them continue to excel in the upcoming meets.”
Coach Darzi, looking ahead to upcoming events related, “as we shift our training to focus on race strategy, we are excited to work on improving our turns and dives We can’t wait to see how we will perform again at the next meet in October.”
